ICCAT Increases Marlin Conservation

Ellen Peel, TBF's President and United States Commissioner for Recreational Fishing, attended the 2012 International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) Meetings in Morocco held November 12-19. Facing the possibile expiration of all existing conservation measures for Atlantic blue and while marlin, hard negotiations resulted in increased measures for Atlantic billfish. Consistent with scientific recommendations, the commission adopted a reduction in catches of 50% and 31% for blue and white marlin, respectively. TBF/FAO Host Workshop in Colombia

TBF and the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission of the Food and Agricultural Organization hosted an expert workshop on the 'Assessment of Socio-Economic Impacts of Recreational Fishing - the Caribbean, a Beginning'. The workshop was attended by 29 experts from 12 different countries and territories and set the foundation for a framework to quantify the socio-economic benefits of recreational fishing across the greater Caribbean region. TBF Invites You to 'Art and Billfish'

Join TBF and the Students from South Broward High School as they exhibit their billfish inspired art at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. The students have created nearly 40 works of art with many of them being created using billfish mounts donated by King Sailfish Mounts
